I have a dell precision m6300 notebook (Vista). It has been used on my
companys network with no big problems for six months. After a droped vpn connection this weekend, the network is inaccessable through either nic or wireless. VPN stills works (VPN passthrough to workstation). Internet still works fine (wired or wireless). I can ping all network computers and vise versa (router also). The laptop is visble by other computers on the network, but not accessable. On the laptop, the network and sharing center indicates all is well, but only shows the laptop and the router on the network. File sharing and network discovery are on. I can even start remote desktop sessions on the network. I cannot access any shares on any computer. This also makes the syc center useless because the offline files are stuck offline. I have reinstalled net adapter software to no avail. I have tried a bunch of system restore points, but they never work. Tried router firmware resets. All other network computers are working fine. Dell tech support not able to help. I am out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike Chartre Powertrain Engineers |

Any errors in the event viewer? Sounds like part of the VPN crashed your local network connection. I had this happen with a Watchguard Mobile User VPN. I forget the component that did it. I ended up reinstalling the workstation. -- SCSIraidGURU Michael A. McKenney 'www.SCSIraidGURU.com' (http://www.SCSIraidGURU.com) |
