I formatted my hard drives in Vista 64-bit, now when I try to use them on Vista 32 they can not be found (other than in the BIOS). Someone has told me that the disk format between Vista 32-bit and Vista 64 bit is different? They also said that the format in Vista 64 is not reversable (like in the old 16-bit and 32-bit file formats). This does seem strange to me as I can't run FDISK and the only way to format these drives is by using my other PC with Vista 64-bit windows by right clicking on the disk them selecting format. Also I can't install Vista 32 on any of these 3 Hard Drives (which are all SATA drives). The range of faults displayed is from:- Can not find disk, Error 0x80070003 and Error 0x80300002, Unable to find drive, Unable to find Data, Windows could not assign a drive letter to a partition on Disk 0, The specified partition does not excist on the target disk, unable to retreve data. Everthing seems normal up to Sernial num, ber, Accept terms, Install custom (advance), OK then the hard disk light goes almost out (one dim flash every second) Gets to section 1 (collecting information) then STOPS with one of the error codes above. I tried 2 different IDE ROM's and one SATA DVD W/R with the same results. Counting Vista Beta's and RC1 + RC2 I have done many installation both of the 32-bit and 64-bit (about 20 of each without problems) I have changed the motherboard twice as well. ![]() jannerhank -- jannerhank |

Not true Both versions of Vista use NTFS This does seem strange to me as I can't run FDISK and the only way to format these drives is by using my other PC with Vista 64-bit windows by right clicking on the disk them selecting format. No, Fdisk has not been used with any version of NT you need to use disk management Also I can't install Vista 32 on any of these 3 Hard Drives (which are all SATA drives). Hit F6 when prompted at the beginning of installation so you can load your SATA drivers. Unlike XP, you do not need a floppy, they can be loaded from a cd or USB thumb drive snip |
