I had already tried those and just tried them again and still nothing. Reading that thread I linked it makes me think the hd might be messed up but I'm not sure of the best way to reformat it. During the install my HD doesn't even show up so I can't reformat it using that. -- FznCheese |

If these are not what you meant by system and model number please let me know in a little more detail (I'm not that big of a tech guy, wish I was though because then I could already solve my own problem) Thanks in advance -- FznCheese |

Does the drive show up in post properly? If so, can you use command prompt
to see the drive and partition and format? Use diskpart ? to get command list "FznCheese" wrote in message ... I had already tried those and just tried them again and still nothing. Finally!!!!! I got Vista installer to recognize my HD! A quick recap for those that might have the same problem in the futu _*My_Problem: *_-Fresh PC build with brand new HD (Seagate) -When trying to instal vista, on the screen that asks where would you like to Install Windows? My HD would not show up in the box. -My HD was not AHCI or RAID setup -both Gigabyte and Seagate said a single fresh SATA HD does NOT need any addinoal drivers as long as you are not trying to do RAID or AHCI. _*My_Trials: *_-After messing around with drivers and bios settings I could still not get it to work -Found this ('http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=81526' (http://%28http://forums.windrivers.c...hp?t=81526%29)) thread. In it they pointed to the HD being messed up -Using the Seagate Disc Wizard to create a boot disc I tried to reformat my HD. This did not work saying it could not find a Seagate HD _*My_Solution: *_-I downloaded a third party freeware format utillity (Super Fdisk) -Used Super Fdisk to create a boot disc -used the boot disk to erase all partions -Vista found my HD Thanks for all your help! -- FznCheese |
