You can turn off the volume shadow copy service. But, I wouldn't. It will
break the Vista backup program, among other things.

BTW, I *may* be wrong but I believe volume shadow copies are only made in
Ultimate, Enterprise and Business editions of Vista.

what I thought was an adjuster is not, did not try to adjust it, since I have MORE than enough disk space and was not worried.

all you can do apparently is to turn it off.

That is correct. System Restore can be disabled on a drive within System
Properties - System Protection tab.

I agree with "don't turn it off crowd" here.

I had to use it last week on my laptop (did something stupid that I don't
want to mention here) and as a last resort I used the System Restore and it
worked like a charm.
