Default Windows Vista upgrade error

Hello,
I recently purchased the Vista Ultimate 64 bit upgrade as part of 'The
Ultimate steal', but after multiple attempts to upgrade, I keep getting the
same error on the final stage 'Completing Upgrade', the error says something
along these lines: 'Windows installer has encountered an error and cannot
continue. Your computer will now restart and will be reverted to your
previous version of Windows'. I am currently running Windows Vista Home Basic
64 bit. I would be very grateful if someone can help me out here, as I cannot
get a refund for this product with it being a download.

Many thanks in advance,
Adam
