Default Vista64 clean install has screwed up directory incorrectly showing up as a junction point!

Have a laptop with Vista64 and have problems installing OpenOffice. The
program errors on on installing a file to
c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\templates indicating that I do not
have rights to that location. Checked in windows explorer and that
location is showing up as a junction point rather than a real
directory. I know that \ProgramData\Templates is a junction point
which points to \ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Templates but I can not
gain access to that directory since in Windows explorer it too has a
shortcut/junction point symbol and when I click on it I get an Access
Denied error!

I have verified that on a Vista Business 32bit that
\Programdata\microsoft\windows\templates is indeed writable and
traversable via Windows Explorer!

There appears to be something going on with Business 64bit versions
which is not occurring with Vista Home Premium 64 bit. The latter had
no problem install OpenOffice and only Vista Bursiness 64bit is the
one which is manipulating changing the attribute/type for
\programdata\microsoft\windows\templates!!

Why?

IMHO: I hate the way Vista has changed the way Windows now has junction
points like that.

That's one thing MS should not have fooled with.

However , since your app installs OK on Vista_32

I'd check with Open Office to see if it's even supported by Vista_64
