I have been consistently unable to install Vista SP1. It goes through all
three phases and then simply fails, and reverts back. I am running Vista home premium 32 bit. Initially got an error that led me to run repair.bat and try the reinstall again last night, but no luck. Other updates have installed successfully before and after SP1. ???? |

I have a broadband connection so I don't think it's that. I am just
wondering if there isnt' something else that I should be trying.... thanks "Donald L McDaniel" wrote: On Sun, 9 Nov 2008 05:37:00 -0800, Gina Megay Gina wrote: I have been consistently unable to install Vista SP1. It certainly sounds like you got a bad download. Download again, preferably on a machine which has access to a high bandwidth connection ( 1.5Mbps.) -- Donald L McDaniel Please reply to the original thread and article. ==================================== |

Try uninstalling your antivirus and other security programs before installing SP1. Download the full file then right click it and choose Run as administrator. Before running the downloaded file right click on it, pick Properties, and make sure it is not blocked. Try temporarily disabling UAC. -- Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience: Systems Administration http://www.vistahelp.ca/phpBB2/ http://vistahelpca.blogspot.com/ |

Hey Gina--
Make sure you have enough space as was said by hitting the windows key on the lower left of keyboard + R and in runbox type diskmgmt.msc--make sure you have enough GB on whatever drive you're using. Then download the WICU here and start it and if (and I don't know that it will be ) Vista's SP1 is one of the entries listed, then delete it. That cleans up junk in the way of installs from an aborted install sometimes or corrupt files in the install path and registry orphans that could contribute to an incomplete install. Download for WICU at bottom of KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Good luck, CH "Gina Megay" wrote in message ... I have a broadband connection so I don't think it's that.
