Default Vista Backup files

Hi,

I'm using the built in backup feature to back up my files i.e. "Backup
Files" option NOT the "Backup Computer" option.

Now I have a lot of back up files on my external hard drive and I'm running
out of space.

Can I go ahead and delete the old back ups? I wasn't sure if back ups were
set up in an incremental fashion in which case deleting old back up files may
render recent ones useless.

Please let me know if it's safe for me to delete these files.

Thanks,

Sam
