Default My Vista Can Boot Anymore! Not At All - Safe Mode Not Working :-/

Hello,

i updated my Vista OS. After updates installed, i restarted the
machine. Now, i keep getting this back screen with 4 choices i guess. I
chose each one them, none worked. I do not have the CD. I'm running on
linux! I can not get back to windows, when i choose, e.g safe mode. The
screen halts like its going to get into windows. In a sudden, PC
restarts automatically...

I feel sad, i got many purchased application in there. I got many
unfinished projects need, i have not put them all in my storage. I got
alot of projects. I do not want to be forced and reformat. I can't do
that. I'll loose my life! HELP....

Hence, i purchased my PC since several months, in a sudden one day,
very recently, i got a message says my Vista is not genuine!!!! My
laptop is brand new, Vista was installed readily inside....Anyhow, I was
deciding to purchase the serial code after doing some updates. However,
now i can not boot! I got no CD, since vista came in the laptop readily.
The seller did not tell me he installed a fake Vista. What a pity! Vista
could not discover it untill months have passed! The seller is gone...I
will sue him once i find him....

There must be a solution for this, i can't boot . Please do
not tell me to re-format, all my life is in what i have in Vista,
serious projects....Please help

Hi f ben,

You have a number of options.

You could create a recovery disc and use the startup repair so you can
boot into Windows.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/14...very-disc.html

You may find the screen blacks out after 1 hour - enough time to backup
your data onto external media.

If you do go into reduced functionality mode, this Tutorial should help

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/12...lity-mode.html

You can report the Piracy to Microsoft. If you are lucky , they may
give you a genuine copy if they think you were unknowingly misled into
buying pirated software

'Protect Yourself from Piracy'

If you buy your own copy to install get the install dvd - not just the
product key. There is an option to save all the data currently on the
drive/ partition.

When you get to Step 10 of the tutorial below, do not select Drive
Options (advanced) and do not Format the partition.

Just click on the partition you wish to install Vista on , and you will
be given the option to save all the files currently on that partition
into a folder called Windows.old.

You will be able to access your data from there after the reinstall.
You will need to reinstall your programs - if you have the program
setup files, they will be saved into the Windows .old folder also.

Hope that helps

You NOW should have an appreciation for having a backup strategy.

You could buy a new disk drive and replace you old disk drive. Then when new
system is up and running you could put the old drive back in the system and
hopefully get the files you need from it, I did this with a external USB
drive cabinet and it worked perfectly for me
And then you could use the old drive for periodic backups.

http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html

Download the above Knoppix Live CD ISO file.

http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

Pick the Vista Burning software from the abobe link.
After installing above burn software, right-click on Knoppix ISO file, make
an Image disk.
It does not install on your PC; just uses your PC's resources, RAM,
Graphics, etc.

Plug in a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, boot with the Live CD, and you should be
able to read your Hard Drive.
Right-click on the Flash DriveProperites, and change from read only.
Copy your Data over to FD

Many times legitimate versions will show the non genuine warning. All you
have to do is go to the Windows Genuine page and run the module that
verifies that your copy is Genuine.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...alidation.aspx

As to your current problem, on startup after POST hit the F8 key and do a
system restore.
