I have just restored my PC back to it's factory settings owing to a
startup problem. I decided to install Microsoft Visual Basic 6 as part of the rebuild process. Vista did report an incompatibility message regarding the software, but as I rarely use it, it didn't bother me too much. It appears as though the software might have corrupted something, as I cannot get one program to run which utilises the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0. I get the following error executing the program:- CLR error: 80004005 and informs me that the program will terminate. I am using Windows Vista Home Edition. I have done a start up files repair, and system restore and a scannow from the C:\ prompt and everything appears to be in order. It looks like this could be something to do with the Microsoft .net Framework 2.0 which the program requires. The program's creator assures me that it's not to blame. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the program and done a registry clean without success. Microsoft .net Framework 2.0 is an integral part of Vista. It's not listed in the installed programs list and one cannot reinstall it, as an error message states that it's already installed. There is a lot of content relating to this error on the web, but no cures it seems. Sorry if this is not aimed at the right group, but I'm a layman regarding the topic. Maybe somebody can forward me in the right direction if necessary? I'm a bit loathe to go for a factory reset, as it will take two days to reinstall/tweak all the software. TIA |
