Default USB Speed

Hi

I have Vista Ultimate.
How do I test the speed of a USB connection to see if it is working
okay.

I have Hard Drive connected to a USB port.

thanks

Daniel

ctrl-alt-delete/task manager/performance/resource monitor

Start a file transfer and read the graph.

If you don't get a system message that your device can work faster,
it's working as fast as it will.

I went back and reread your original post.
You already know the speed is 15.2MB/S.
You know it's USB2 speed cause it's 15x faster than usb1.
Assuming you're copying ONE big file, you're in the range
where going faster depends on the speeds of the drives involved
and the processor speed. You may be able to get more speed
by using device manager to set policy to "optimize for performance".
Be sure to READ all of the policy screen before you do it.
