Has anyone installed MS Office 97 on Vista? (Home Basic version) Well, looked around at Microsoft, and they claim 97 is not compatible with Vista... and, of course, have a link to buy an upgrade That won't happen 'cause my sister-in-law can just afford to buy an entry level Dell to replace her old HP that died, so I've downloaded Open Office Now, to replace the Office task bar that she REALLY likes, does anyone know of a free task launcher like the one that comes with MS Office? |

You should try installing it and running it XP compatibility mode. Which
specific Office 97 programs /features does your sister in law require. "John" wrote in message ... On Wed, 19 Nov 2008 09:55:48 -0800, John wrote: Has anyone installed MS Office 97 on Vista? Why do you say that? If it works that's good it it does not then there is
nothing lost. I had one program that I would not install and work until I installed and ran in XP compatibility mode. "Mike Hall - MVP" wrote in message ... "Curious" wrote in message ... I have not yet seen reports of users being unable to uninstall programs that
they installed in XP compatibility mode. But obvisolsy you have or you would not have made your previous post. Your previous post. however, would have been a lot more beneficial if you had pointed out in it that many users have had problems in this area rather then just stating " Not a good idea at all.. You are definitely WAY too trusting - at least where Hall is concerned - IMO. Your previous post. however, would have been a lot more beneficial if you had pointed out in it that many users have had problems in this area rather then just stating " Not a good idea at all.. " Without stating why Hall is a very busy guy replying to all the trolls such as "Alias" and the other members of that completely worthless cabal - so much so that I think he is now officially a member. He hardly has time left for anyone else. Besides, I don't think he really gives a crap. |
