Would you happen to know how to tweak your icon cache? If not:: * I n c r e a s e Y o u r I c o n C a c h e * 1) Click your -Start- Orb [image: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/Fra...ows-vista.gif] 2) In the -Start- Search area, type "regedit" and press -Enter-. --- • -This command will require elevation so hopefully you're the Administrator - 3) If all branches are collapsed, direct yourself to "-[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer]-" 4) Single Click on -Explorer- and you should see the following values: --- • -Default- --- • -IconUnderline- --- • (And you MAY see -AlwaysUnloadDLL-) --- • (And you MAY hopefully see -Max Cached Icons-... if so, go to step 6) 5) On the right box, under the -Default-, etc., Right Click in the White Area, Select -New-, then Select -String-. Name this *-Max Cached Icons-*. 6) Double-Click on the -*Max Cached Icons*- string and set the -Value Data- to a number between _*100*_ - _*4069*_ (Vista Default is only 500). --- • Each number represents a storage "kilobyte", so for example, if the -Value Data- is _*500*_, Vista will save 500kb worth of Icons in the "-Icon Cache-". --- • But if you have the maximum number, _*4069*_, Vista will save 4 MegaBytes worth of Icons which is an estimated ~3,000 more icons. 7) Close the -Registry Editor- Completely. 8) Restart -Windows- for the changes to take effect. If this doesn't work, I'd recommend seeing if there's an update available for your Graphics Device. * C h e c k F o r D e v i c e / H a r d w a r e U p d a t e s * 1) Click your -Start- Orb [image: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/Fra...ows-vista.gif] 2) In the -Start- Search area, type "Device Manager" and press -Enter-. --- • -This command will require elevation so hopefully you're the Administrator - 3) If all branches are collapsed, open -Display Adapters-. A graphics card and/or video card should now be seen tree'd beneath -Display Adapters-. 4) Right Click on the graphics card and click -Update Driver Software-. --- • If it can't find anything, or asks you to enter the disc, just -Google- the name of your device, go to the Manufacturers website, and manually search for the latest version of your hardware/device. Hope this helps. ![]() -- Zyonix |
