Default Problem updating BIOS

I'm trying to update the bios of my dell dimension e521, AMDx2 5600+,
2GB with a genuine Dell update, but Vista keeps telling me to log in as
a administrator....

My rights in Vista are set as an Administrator, so I don't see why I
can't update my Bios...

Please help!

Thnx!

Default Problem updating BIOS

Hi: Try to disable the UAC temporary.

User Account Control Step-by-Step Guide

How can I disable the User Account Control (UAC) feature on my Windows Vista
computer?

Why are you wanting to upgrade the BIOS? Are you sure that the upgrade will
definitely fix the problem you are expecting to solve?

Your machine may be telling you to leave well alone..

Although you are logging in with an Admin account for some operations you
must use the "run as administrator" option. Right click on the shortcut or
EXE of the BIOS update utility and select "run as administrator".

Well,

my machine stalls at bios boot up, sometimes it starts up normally, but
most of the time I have to do a hard reset and then after a couple of
times it finally boots... Then the screen does a 'video card check'??
All the colors of the rainbow appear one after another... Couple of
times screen off, screen on and then the normal picture appears...

sounds like it may be graphic card problem rather than bios. if it were
bios i would expect a complete shutdown..

Ah OK, then it's better to try to borrow a good working graphics card
than trying to flash my bios.... Thnx!

If BIOS was the problem, it would not boot at all. As already suggested, try
another video card..
