Default Need Help with CD drive

I put some music on a CD off from ITunes and it done good for a long time.
Then I put it in the CD drive and it popped up stated to "Burn a Disc"
"Prepare this blank disc" Disc title Nov 22 2008. I know it has music in
it. What am I doing wrong? It has never done this before.

If it's coming up with a message like 'burn a disc' and 'prepare this blank
disc' then the disc must be blank. Are you sure you have the correct disc
with your music on?

The easiest thing to do is cancel the disc burn message and open Windows
explorer. Scroll down to your CD/DVD and check to see if any contents show
up. If they don't then the disc is blank.

Incidentally have you tried using the disc in another PC or portable disc
player?

Is it a CD-R or CD-RW? Only if its a CD-RW I can think of why you still able
to burn to it.

You might try leaving the disk in the drive and restarting the computer. I
have had that work and the disk being recognised.

Default Need Help with CD drive

Hi goldpony,

I had problems like yours with CD/DVDs. (including genuine software
installation disks and genuine CDs) I got this fix which worked for me from
www.vista64.com .

Restore DVD Drive Auto Run

1/ Click the Start button

2/ In the Search dialogue box type; Regedit

3/ UAC will kick in and ask your permission to continue prior to opening
the registry editor. If you are the Administrator, Click Continue.

4/ The Registry Editor will now open

5/ Now navigate to the following sub key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\CDRom

6/ Look down the list of option in the Right Hand pane of the Registry
editor Window and locate the Auto Run option

7/ If the Auto Run value is 1 (one) then Auto Run is enabled. If it is 0
(zero) then it is disabled. To re-enable it, Right Click on the Auto Run
option, Select Modify and in the Value Data box type: 1 (one), then
Press OK

8/ Finally Close the Registry Editor

9/ Insert a CD or DVD into the CD/DVD-Rom and, hopefully, it should now
Auto Run.

Best of British, Delboy
