Default Public folder - Can't see newly added files

I have a Public folder sharing files and folders between a desktop and a
laptop on a local network.
I recently added some files and one folder to Public. I can access the newly
added files and folder from the desktop but not from the laptop. The orignal
files and folders are still accessable from both.
How do I make the new files available to the laptop?
Thanks
