The flashing power light usually means that windows has been placed in sleep
mode. Some computers, due to the vintage of the M/B or device drivers installed, can not successfully recover from the sleep mode. I have an older M/B that I had to physically disconnect from the power to reset the computer so that it would start up. I ended up disabling the sleep mode altogether. Next time shut down your computer the normally accepted way and don't allow it to go to sleep. That should solve your problem. Also, disable sleep in power configuration. -- Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "NYCorBUST" wrote in message ... _*COMPUTER_INFORMATION*_ Gateway DX4640-ub101a Vista 64bit w/ SP1 NVIDIA GeForce2100 4 GB DDR2 Intel Pentium Dual -Core E2000 Dual Core Computer. _*NOTED_SOFTWARE*_ I use Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 Windows Defender Complete Microsoft Office Suite Firefox 3.x _*DETAILS_OF_ISSUE*_ MOST of the time (roughly 80%) my computer will start fast and correct. Thank you for the quick response; however, I do not use sleep mode on my computer. In fact, that was one of the first things I disabled. Just wanted to follow up - does anyone know any "Scans" I can do to "find" out where the error is? Isn't there a way to see "line-by-line" what programs are starting up as they start up? For instance, when the windows load screen (The one with the green bar scrolling at the bottom) loads, isn't there a way to see a "promp-like" screen with individual programs loading? I guess I am looking for a way to "audit" my computer as it loads windows. Any suggestions? -- NYCorBUST |
