USB 2.0 vs Firewire
Hola! Purchased myself a nifty 1 TB Western Digital External to celebrate Black Friday. Has both the USB 2.0 and Firewire options. I've never used Firewire, so I was just wondering what everyone (or, anyone who reads this)'s opinion on which is the better option, Vista Home Premium x64. Thanks for reading, and for your input! USB 2.0 vs Firewire
I got the 1 TB Western Digital External that also includes the eSata. eSata
is several times faster than any of the other options. I only use the drive to record TV onto on a system that only has USB and USB is fast enough to record 2 shows at once onto while watching another pre-recorded show from the drive. I have tested the eSata with another system I have, and its as fast as an internal hard drive would be. I have never used Firewire. "Zoloft" wrote in message ... Hola! Unless Zoloft installed a 3rd party 1394b controller, then what exists in
his system is a 400 controller. The inbox (ships with Windows) class driver for Vista 1394 only supports 400 connections - and so there are very few 800 devices on systems not manufactured by Apple. As another poster has mentiond - eSATA is probably the best way to go (and how I have my 2 TB Western Digital drive connected to my system). "Brett I. Holcomb" wrote in message ... Firewire is faster but it's a different setup entirely - there are 400 and 800 versions with different plugs for each. Does your computer support firewire and have drivers? You have several responses that you have not responded to. Bumping will not
get you more responses. Dump the web forum that you are using, as all it does is slurp posts from Microsoft's newsservers and does you a disservice by not displaying the entire thread.
