Hi,
On my machine I have Windows Vista (business EOpen licensed) and as I only downloaded it last week from MS it had service pack 1 integrated. If I need now to install the DVD components of this (to allow playback of DVDs etc), I understand I need to upgrade to Ultimate (to keep domain functionality). I happen to have a copy of Vista Ultimate (that came with the system originally under OEM license), but this is not SP1 (as the computer is nearly a year old). If I put that disk into the machine, and run the upgrade, will the whole system be wiped, or will just the ultimate parts of the system be added? What about the SP level on the machine (will it go back to pre-SP1)? Thanks. Andrew. |

Hi Andrew,
You can't upgrade an installation at SP1 using the pre-SP1 disk, it won't work. The disk used for upgrading has to be at the same service pack level or higher. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Andrew Hodgson" wrote in message ews.com...
