22" max res of only 1440x900 problem (Radeon HD3850)
Yippee....sorted!! First off - can I thank you all for taking the time and trouble to try and help me out...it's what the 'net's all about Now for anyone else with a similar problem, I'll tell you now - I'm not sure exactly HOW it's sorted itself out, but I'll tell you -what- I've done, for you too to at least try out as well... I had a DVI-VGA adapter coming out of ONE of the dual DVI-out ports to my monitor... Now to me - an adapter is an adapter....but anyway, I remembered I had another one lying around somewhere. So I shut down my PC and found the other one. The one I had in place was one of the break-out types....with a DVI block to attach to the graphics card and two short leads coming off it - one with another DVI (female) connector and the other with a female VGA connector. I don't know which one of the following sorted out the problem, but I first exchanged the adapter I had in place with the other adapter (which was a solid 'block' adapter - no short fly-leads...) I also connected it up to the *other* DVI-out connector of the graphics card - rebooted and voila, 1680x1050 was available on the CCC options, and also, the monitor was showing up as a 'Generic PnP Monitor' in DM now.... Anyway - thanks again to all who tried to help out....just shows...'pooters are weird thingymajigs aren't they...? Cheers -- RexHam |
