The following were returned in response to netstat -n:
************************************************** *** Proto Local Address Foreign Address State TCP X.X.X.X:X 74.192.20.210:6439 Established ************************************************** *** Note that X.X.X.X:X are my local address and port #. The foreign address appears to be that of Suddenlink Communications. I have nothing to do with this company. I wonder why their IP shows up as above. Could anyone shed light on this? |

The port value at your end (the X after the : on the local address) may
provide a clue as to what the connection is about. netstat -b -o will also provide additional information as to what process at your end is using the link. Michael "churin" wrote in message ... Thank you for your response.
The IP no longer shows now but I tried the suggested netsat command(netstat -b -o). The result indicates that the IP mentioned in my OP appears to be that of a Skype client. I do not remember the port # of my local IP but it was not in those port-forwarded by the router. Thank you again for your very enlightening response about netstat.
