Hello everyone,
I've been having the same problem as Dina, and i don't know what to do.
My HP laptop has been running really slow lately so I decided to
defragment it but it doesn't seem to work.
jcgriff2, i did what you said and i ran the -perfmon /rel -and also
-msinfo32. -I am joining my zipped files and hope you can propose me a
solution.-
-Thank you for your help.-

Instead of running defrag try "Check disk for errors" and when you do so
check both boxes. This may help as disk errors can cause slow disk
performance. Also, if you are running AVG antivirus (Free) try removing
that and get the new version or something else (Not Norton or MacAfee).

Hi -

Thanks for files.

You have 1 GB installed RAM. Vista really needs 2 GB RAM to run with
any efficiency. Your system is using virtual memory (the hard drive --
page file) to make up for lack of physical memory (RAM).

I would highly suggest that you upgrade RAM to 2GB, even 3GB. x86 can't
use more than ~3.3GB. RAM is much cheaper today than XP days. Be sure to
get matching RAM sticks (I recommend all new RAM), otherwise you may
find yourself back here in search of help with BSODs.

Also, I see quite a few programs running out of HP program folder that
I do not recognize. Same with other folders. Then there is this item I
found in the loaded module listing -

Code:
--------------------

lcres 1.7.109.0 379,77 KB (388 888 bytes)
02.10.2007 19:19
Корпорация Майкрософт (Microsoft Corp.)
c:\program files\windows live\messenger\lcres.dll

--------------------

Reports tell me you are US and English language. If you know what this
is - great. But I don't know of no reason for what appears Russian
language driver to be in US English system. Infection may be present.

Good Luck to you.

Regards. . .

there is another alternative for vista...firstly u just need to open
cmd(as administrator)
then type in 'defrag c: -w'..or copy it..without the quot though..this
will do full fragmentation..you can also change to disk that u wish to
defrag..then wait till new line appear, that means the defrag is
finish..1st time i did this i have to wait about 2 hours though depends
the size of the hard disk..hehe after i defrag my hard disk increase by
1 gb..but i do feel my system running faster..or it just me..hee

jcgriff2- Thank you. But why did they sell me a 1GB memory laptop
knowing that VISTA takes up almost all of it? And how do i add the extra
1GB to my laptop knowing that I am not familiar on how to do so with
laptops. Can I just take my laptop to a shop and let them fix that? About
the Russian it is just my MSN Messenger that is configurated in Russian,
as most of my softwares.

fariz- Thank you too. I might try that too
