I'm trying to share my printer with the other computers on my network. I have Vista Ultimate x64 and the other computers are all x86, Vista Home Prem., XP MCE, and I think Windows 2000 (my dad's) If it matters the printer is a Brother MFC 290c. So I found the printer sharing button where it asks for additional drivers. I think I got the right file for that, there's two in the x86 driver folder, "brimbh91.inf" and ""brprbh91.inf". The first one pops up in the File Name box when I open the folder, so I assume that's it, although the one with PR in it would make more sense to me. After I pick one of those (either one) it asks me for ntprint.inf Having no idea where to find that i saw on this forum where it it located. So I tried to select it, but it just keeps asking me for that file over and over. Any idea what the deal is here?'' (file:///D:/driver/win2kxpvista/usa/brimbh91.inf) -- philnolan3d ~~Phil Nolan Modeler / Animator www.philnolan3d.com |

(file:///D:/driver/win2kxpvista/usa/brimbh91.inf) You are trying to install 32-bit drivers on a 64-bit operating system. This won't work. You need to get 64-bit drivers from Brother for your printer. If they haven't written any, that printer won't work in a 64-bit operating system. The x86 folder is for 32-bit operating systems. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! I already have the 64 bit Drivers installed, but Windows said I should get the x86 drivers installed so that the other users on the network could just grab it from me at the time that they print. -- philnolan3d ~~Phil Nolan Modeler / Animator www.philnolan3d.com |

You only need to do that if you're using a print server. Just install the correct drivers on each computer that is going to use the printer. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! Oh OK, thank you.. I think sometimes Microsoft writes things assuming you already know how to do them. -- philnolan3d ~~Phil Nolan Modeler / Animator www.philnolan3d.com |
