Hello,
I installed Vista RTM (business edition) not too long ago. Things have been great so far, with one exception - as of a few days ago, I've been unable to see other computers on my home network. Poking around the system, I realized that this was because my "Computer Browser" service is stopped. Trying to manually start the service threw a dependency error, so I turned to the event log for help: The Computer Browser service depends on the Workstation service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start. The Workstation service depends on the SMB 2.0 MiniRedirector service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start. The SMB 2.0 MiniRedirector service depends on the SMB MiniRedirector Wrapper and Engine service which failed to start because of the following error: Incorrect function. The SMB MiniRedirector Wrapper and Engine service failed to start due to the following error: Incorrect function. So, it looks like the SMB MiniRedirector Wrapper is what's causing everything to fail. At this point, though, I'm really out of my league.. and Googling hasn't been ANY help.. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions.. I would really, really appreciate it! Thank you so much, and happy new years ![]() Tyler |

Hello, I have had a similar problem but rather than get an Incorrect Function error, I got "SMB MiniRedirector Wrapper and Engine is not a valid Win32 application." Also, under the event viewer log, check to see if you have any NTFS error logs. It could be that this file is getting corrupt. I will let you know if i have any more progress with fixing it. Have you by any chance found the SMB MiniRedirector file? I just started looking for it. -- Carlos Rogel |
