Default AuthenTec Inc AES1610 update not working

I downloaded updates the other day and since then every time i log on i get a
window saying it needs to complete installation or something like that i have
gone through every possible choice to say yes or no but it still always comes
up. The finger scanner is playing up with it as well. I tried to do the
rollback that i read somewhere should help but i am unable to choose the
rollback button.

The update appears under update history but not installed updates .... so i
can't uninstall it.

i have a Toshiba satellite running vista... please help me

The exact wording of the window that comes up is:
Device Software Installation
Windows will now finish installing software from the manufacturer of this
device:

AuthenTec Inc. AES1610

finish installing software (recommended)
This additional software may be necessare for your device to function properly

Ask me again later
Windows will ask again the next time you plug in your device or log on.

I just had the same problem. After uninstalling, reinstalling, and all
that still nothing. The last thing I did that worked was right click
TrueSuite in the tray and exit the program and then restart. That solved
the problem.

Default AuthenTec Inc AES1610 update not working

Hi I have the EXACT same problem!! I downloaded some updates and now
every time I start up my computer that AuthenTec Inc AES1610 message
comes up!! I have a Toshiba Satellite (P300) that is running Vista too.

I've tried exiting the TrueSuite Access Manager and then restarting,
but that didn't work. I found the driver details (Control Panel
Hardware and Sound Device Manager Personal Identification Devices)
but it doesn't give me the option to Roll Back the Driver.

Any help anyone???

I had exactly the same problem. The way I fixed it was installing it with the
Administrator account.
Administrator account is disabled by default in Vista, so I went to Local
Users and Group and enabled.
Restarted my laptop and logged it with the Administrator account.
Went thru the process of installing AES1610, asked for reboot
Restarted again and logged in with the Administrator account, problem went
away.
Logged off Administrator and logged in with my regular account, problem
didn't show up.
Disabled again Administrator account and restarted my laptop.
Logged in with my regular account, and now things are back to normal.

I did this based on my Windows 2008 experience where when you install
drivers is better doing it with the Administrator account, I am missing old
Windows NT 4 days where security was not an issue ;-)

I have the same problem. I even unistalled the AuthenTec software and the
"Device Software Installation" window still pops up when I start my laptop.
I'm on a Toshiba U405. My laptop has one username which is the
Administrator, so it's not a rights issue. I think they're going to need to
patch this because it's damn annoying.

Hi there,

I've found a way to get rid of the problem too but I had to turn to
quite drastic measures.

I backed up all my docs and settings and restored my computer to
factory settings. If you have a Toshiba, this is done by holding down
the 0 key while turning your laptop on. It makes a horrible beeping
noise but this is normal. Go through the reboot with all the pre-checked
settings - this will take about an hour. But make sure all your docs are
saved on a back up disk!

When going through the set up process, make sure you DO NOT choose to
let Windows do Automatic Updates - choose the setting that lets you
choose your settings later. This is important because the problem is
caused by an Automatic "Important" Windows Update that downloads and
installs itself when your computer checks for updates the first time you
go online.

Anyway, so once you've rebooted, check for Windows Updates (you might
need to install the Windows Updater first) and view them. You can check
or un-check any update, I un-checked the update for AuthenTec Inc
AES1610 and made sure the rest of the updates were checked. You can then
download and install the updates. Once this is done, you can go back and
check for Windows Updates again - only the AutenTec Inc AES1610 update
should show (as it was the only one that was not downloaded) and then
right click it and hide it.

That solved the problem for me. I think the whole problem arose because
of an Automatic Windows Update that canot be uninstalled after it has
been downloaded and installed. The True Suite driver has nothing to do
with it - I tried uninstalling it and downloading an earlier version -
but the problem still remained. It is just that one buggered Windows
Update that is causing it.

But as I said, it is quite a drastic measure to have to set all your
personalised settings again. Good luck!

Yea... I'm not ready to do a factory restore just yet... I'll wait and see
if anything comes from this via an update from Microsoft. If I have time
this weekend, I might contact them directly via email and see what they can
do.

Don't hold yer breath. How many millions of email messages do you
