Hi All.
I'm not sure what caused this weird symptom. but I still doubt Avast! anti-virus. after installed Avast free-home AV apps onto my vista 64 ultimate. almost every network releated apps aren't running. (mostly 32 bit apps.) include latest firefox, google chrome browser, 32bit internet explorer brothas. but 64 bit internet explorer is surely works. (maybe it's only network-app that I can use.) problem is, avast uninstalltion isn't work either! so I removed manually, services, registries but no luck. fyi. pinging, ftp via Command works mostly, games, media players streaming, apps are NOT works. and there is no suspicious log in Event Viewer. Network Center says "no problem". anyone out there shed a bright light onto me? Thanks in advance. |

I may have a fix for you. I had the same problem and found a solution
provided by Steve the Moderator at vistaheads.com: Open a command prompt as an administrator: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...vista-run-box/ Type the following commands without the quotes: "Ipconfig /flushdns" and press Enter. "Netsh int ip reset" and press Enter Vista will then want to be rebooted. Go ahead and reboot. When it starts back up, again open command prompt as administrator. Type the following commands without the quotes: "Netsh winsock reset" Vista will then want to be rebooted. Go ahead and reboot. When it starts back up hopefully IE7 will work once again "Futurizer" wrote: Hi All. HI, I have the same issue. can only use 64bit IE not 32bit in Vista. I have tried everything I can read out there. I tried what you mentioned using the commands. It did not work. Any other suggestions? 32bit IE went clicked on under start just flashes for a second..never opens. I want to use it due to the flash player problem in 64 bit. thanks !
