... I'm sorry but "malware" is a general term used to describe most malicious programs. Viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, rootkits, etc. And yes, Avast has an antispyware module built in as well as being an AV and rootkit detector. Avast does pick up spyware, adware, etc. Umm no - Avast free version picks up VIRUSES ONLY which are NOT the same as Malware. AVG Free picks up Viruses NOT Malware. Antivir picks up Viruses, NOT Malware. If AV applications picked up malware there would be no need for Spybot, Adaware or any of the other antimalware applications, would there? -- Asking a question? ... Hello; I bought a new computer a few months ago. I was having problems with vista from day 1. It kept flashing, vista would do a flicker and that was it, so i deleted vista completely from my computer, thinking i could go to the vista website and redownload, well guess what i cant. please help, i would like my ie back. how do i do this. sigh do NOT piggyback on a thread that is discussing a COMPLETELY different problem. Your Vendor has to provide you with a method of returning your machine to Factory Gate specifications. read the manual that came with it in order to find out how to do this. And please be aware that the "forum" you are posting in leaches off the MS Usenet Newsgroups, so please follow Usenet custom, reply to the thread, QUOTE the post you are replying to and do not change the subject line. Thank you. -- Asking a question? Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about, your OS, Service Pack level and the FULL contents of any error message(s) |

I'm on safe mode now.. but it's not letting me click on anything at all. I restarted it and it's done the same thing. The only time the laptop is responsive now is it i press the F buttons on start up. x Are you in safe mode with networking? I can't turn it on at all now. It gives me the safe mode options but if i press "safe mode with networking" or even just standard safe mode, it says "preparing for safe mode" for about 10 minutes then turns off. x -- jemmaevansx |

You say you don't have a vista DVD.
In that case, there MUST be a Recovery Partition. Contact the computer manufacturer re the method for recovery; it varies from maker to maker. It normally can be a particular F Key, or combination. Often, it will come up as an option after tapping F8 at startup(Repair, etc); but that option is now out for you. http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/window...disc-download/ You can also get a Repair disk from the above site; it is NOT complete vista reinstall disk. -- Mad Mike "jemmaevansx" wrote: I have Mc Afee, windows defender and i'm sure i had something else on there aswell. I scanned my laptop twice a week when i had it and it didn't pick anything up. I did a test on there the other day on one of the applications and it said my laptop score is 2.5 but is healthy. Could there be another solution? x -- jemmaevansx |

Taken from the Fujitsu support site, picking a random Amilo model since you
didn't name yours, this is what they say to restore the computer using its recovery partition: Solution: 1.. During PC start press F8 to open Advanced Options. 2.. Select Repair your Computer. 3.. Select keyboard layout. 4.. Select User name and Password. If Administrator account is disabled use another account. 5.. Select in System Recovery Options the Fujitsu Siemens Computers Recovery 6.. Restore Factory Default Settings to restore the system image. 7.. Select the source From hard disk (recommended). 8.. Last confirmation to restore the image. The factory default settings are restored on drive C:. The data in partition D: keep in an existing state. I had no problem with Vista at all, it was working perfect untill a few weeks ago. I was online for about an hour then all of a sudden everything started to go really slow then internet explorer stopped working. I thought it was to do with my internet connection but it couldn't have been because i am recieving wireless from my main computer and the internet is fine. I realised then that after re connecting my internet that i could only go on to MSN. Internet explorer and Mozilla firefox were not working at all. I haven't downloaded anything that could've made problems either. Anyway, since then, vista has been slowly messing up. First, it was saying i didn't shut it down properly when i did. Then i realised my wireless connection had been deleted and my recycle bin, paint and calculator got deleted. I know they're only little things, but surely it's not right for that to happen out of nowhere lol. I just turned on my laptop and it said it needed to do this fix thing so i let it run through hoping that everything would improve, but it hasn't. It now takes ages to load up and now i can only go on to Safe Mode. I really want to try and re install vista but i don't have the cd. I'm wondering if there's any way at all to re-install vista without the cd? Pleaseeee try to help me, i love my laptop lol xx -- jemmaevansx |
