Hello - I purchased a HP C7180 AIO printer with my new Vista laptop about 1 year ago. It is connected wirelessly. Initially (for a couple of weeks) the AIO did not work in scan to printer mode, giving a "cannot find printer" message on the AIO console . I then reset the AIO and until October 2008 it "talked" to Vista. Output functions are fine, fax / photocopy work locally. In Nov-Dec there were a large number of Vista upgrades - so I suspect that something has changed... When I most recently went to use it gave a new error message on the laptop stating that it "cannot communicate with the scanning device". Tried the HP online support that did not resolve it - I have : disabled firewalls / virus software, reinstalled software, implemented HP suggested changes, tried an ethernet connection, run it on another XP virtual machine laptop (different software) in both ethernet / wireless configurations. I even uninstalled the Vista Nov - December upgrades - nothing has worked. Yet the EWS webscan is OK, and I have even used Apple's bonjour wizard to install it. Another quirk is that on windows explorer that printer icon cannot be accessed - even with an SD card installed in the printer. (Yet my old Win 98 PC can see it!!) Is the problem with Vista, HP, or both. This is annoying when one is sold a system on the pretext that it is an AIO printer, not a "nearly AIO" printer. Has anyone an idea about the problem or potential solution? Furtherore, does anyone know how to implement a -Factory Reset -on the C7180? You say this is connected wirelessly - does this mean that you are
connecting to it via bluetooth? Or is it network attached (via 802.11)? "RJH" wrote in message ... Hello - I purchased a HP C7180 AIO printer with my new Vista laptop about 1 year ago. i have the same problem but with a c5180. i'am running vista on the pc, never had any problems unit at the end of last year when a lot of vista updates where installed. connection to the vista-pc en c5180 is by ethernet. from that time no connection with the scanner, printing was oke. reinstall hp software did not work, can discover the c5180 but there is no connection. i have disabled the fire-wall, windows defender and the anti4rus progs. i have reset the c5180 to default settings and still the same problems. at this time it is just a printer and not the AIO hp device i whan to have. on a other pc i have installed xp. no problem to find and connect to the c5180 it works great no problem. i have a call opened by hp support. alex. -- alex1970 |
