Hi All, I'm having a bit of a weird problem that perhaps someone out there knows the answer to. I have built a PC and installed it vista x64 to see what differences having multiple Gbs of memory would make to some of my physics codes; but am having an annoying problem with my webcam - a creative optia af. Basically if I plug in the webcam it works fine, but if I sleep and then wake the computer the camera no longer works properly. I know power is reaching the camera - the leds on it glows blue, but all I get is a blank screen in any video app. I've installed the latest x64 drivers, and also the force hardware reset command on the usb bus trick (microsoft hotfix). Does anyone have any idea - its getting a little frustrating as my wife likes to use the PC to skype her parents, but it is frustrating to continually have to restart the machine to use it. Many thanks Simon Machine specs: Gigabyte motherboard with inbuilt video AMD phenom 8 gigs ram vista 64 ultimate -- Simon Bland |

Hi Simon,
Sounds like the driver file isn't compatible with sleep mode. Until the manufacturer releases an updated one that is, the only real solutions are to either not use sleep mode or continually restart the machine. An alternate solution would be to get a different webcam. This is not uncommon in that manufacturers sometimes release driver files that provide basic functionality, but are not fully compatible with the operating system's features. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Simon Bland" wrote in message ... What happens when you plug/unplug the device? Does the device show up in
the device manager? If so, what problem codes does it have? "Simon Bland" wrote in message ... Hi All, I'm having a bit of a weird problem that perhaps someone out there knows the answer to.
