Presently preparing to VPN into my Vista Ultimate desktop. Firewall is on
and virus/internet software is in place. There is a requirement of 'bridging" the DSL modem to configure access from the outside. I write to inquire if the bridging configuration exposes the machine to greater risk of intrusion/malicious intent? Are there any additional configurations/settings in the operating system that will maximize security? Much thanks for your attention as I await your reply. |

Hi
The best security can be achieved by using a Cable/DSL Router even if you have only one computer. The Router's NAT Firewall provides very high security against Hacking your system from the Internet. About DSL connection, http://www.ezlan.net/PPPOE.html In addition using Vista native Firewall, Windows Defender, and adding an Antivirus application to each computer is as secured as you can be.
