Default Disc defrag schedular problems

I am trying to set disc defrag to run on a regular basis, i have asked many
for help but no one seems to get the answer for me you are my last hope.
When I modify the scheduler to run at a specific time the system accepts the
information and sets the next date to run the scan, however when i look at
the scheduler again the next date to be run now states "never" it seems as
though the information is not saving please please please can someone out
there help I've been trying to fix this for 2 months now.

The Vista defrag runs all the time when your machine is idle - no need to
schedule it.

So is the one with Vista - and it runs in the background when the machine is
idle - no need for anything else.
