I have 18 updates waiting to be installed: 9 of them important, one of them a service pack from 11/11/2008. It seems to be installing, going through the motions, but then comes back with the following error message codes -- ::Code 80070652 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.:: ::Code 652 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.:: I have tried to only install the important ones. I have tried to install only the service pack update. None of them work. Any advice? Thanks, Cathy -- cflum |

Hi cflum, welcome to the board. Asides from lack of all information may have needed for diagnostic, I am assuming that you have just completed installing Vista and afterward, errors came up during widow updates. Most updates are sequential, you have to be able to install one successfully before you can install the rest. Computers under my service experienced this sort of errors are usually due to ram problems. I would check to see if you rams are securely seat. Try using only 2 gb of rams if apply. While you at it, (only desktops apply) check all other components and connections are secure especially the SATA cable connection at the HDD. Hope this helps. Bruce Bruce -- bruce2 |

Thank for more info. Are you able to restore the computer to a date before this happen? If there are not restore point as such, you may have to try a system restore to its original state like when you got the computer. May be try a repair first. Post back. -- bruce2 |
