How do you set up Vista to share it's (wired) internet connection with other
computers on a wireless ad hoc network? I have a desktop computer (with Vista) connected to the internet through an ethernet cable, and I have a wireless PCI card that I want to use to share the internet connection. I'm trying to create a wireless ad hoc network between the desktop and my laptop (Windows XP). I can create the wireless network between the two computers, but I can not connect to the internet (wirelessly through the desktop) with my laptop. On my desktop (vista) I checked the box to allow Internet Connection Sharing, but is there something else I have to allow through windows firewall? Thanks |

Thanks for the link, Mrs. Boyer. It explained what I was trying to do, but in
the meantime I was able to get the wireless adhoc network working, and I also bought a wireless router last month. Thanks again |

Gloria -- Gloria Boyer Windows User Assistance team Microsoft Corporation Hi Gloria, For the guide above: If you have only one ethernet card in your PC, windows Vista “sharing” tab wont appear. Is there anyway to force this tab to appear? I dont need another LAN card because my internet connection to host PC is through USB. Hi
The USB connection to the modem should appear as Network Connection with properties similar to Ethernet card you should switch ICS there. Make sure that the ICS service is running (Control Panel/Administrative Tools /services/Internet Connection Sharing. Jack (MS, MVP-Networking) "jimihieu" wrote in message ...
