Default Laptop will not do complete restore.

My granddau has an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC with 3G Ram, AMD Turion
64x2 running Vista Home Premium. She has been continually unplugging
laptop without a proper shutdown first. She may have logged off
sometimes. Both administrator and her user screens have been solid blue
with a taskbar. I tried restoring to earlier date on administrator side
& got the desktop icons back, but a popup said a complete restore wasn't
done. I tried to restore in the user account and it still maintains
solid blue with taskbar.

Does anyone have any idea how to overcome and repair this to gain a
complete restore?

All replies greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

haplyss

Save whatever work she has on the machine and then do a "factory restore"
using either the CD/DVD she received with the system or the Recovery
Partition placed on the HD by the
manufacturer....your manual should explain what squence on keys to press
when the system boots to access this feature
