Default Internet connection

I have just installed Vista Ultimate & I can't connect to the internet. When
I try to set a new connection It says broadband & I have AT&Tdsl. It tries to
set up a network
& I don't have a network card as I have only one computer. It keeps saying
pppoe & as far as I'v been able
to find on google this is a network thing. In XP they give you a setup wizard
& it works so do I have to setup a router then network it in order to
connect to internet ?
I appreciate any help or info.
Thanks

Call up your ISP and ask them to walk you through the process.

Is your computer is connected to a DSL modem by an ethernet cable?

There are two ADSL protocols - pppoe and pppoa. The one the is used
depends on which country you are in.

"Though PPPoE is used in most of the countries, ADSL in the UK, New
Zealand, Belgium, France, Denmark, Italy, Austria (for some
providers), Poland and the Netherlands uses PPPoA. In those areas the
ADSL modem/router supplied needs to support PPPoA."

Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-t...tocol_over_ATM

I would ask your ISP support about which protocol to use and how to
set the correct one for your country.
