Hey guys First needy post here, I have a Dell M6400 Covet quad core with 8gb ram (notebook !) I am using vista ult on it though I used server 08 as my last notebook os. I am using an intel x-25m ssd for my boot and intensive program drive, and I find that if I disable my page file on drive 0, sleep fails - it never makes it to sleep, and the pulsating power button, it gets hung up. If I put back even a minimal 500MB page file on drive 0 all is well. I do have some SSD optimizations running, and hibernate is disabled. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! -- dma550 |

Patient: Doc, if I cut of my leg - I can't walk!
Doc: Then don't cut off your leg. People who disable the page file have untold amount of problems with various programs running. Leave it be. Set it on system managed and continue computing. -- Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "dma550" wrote in message ... Thanks Richard The point though is that when using an SSD, you are already short of space, and having writes to the page file on a slower to write device may not be best. The optimizations for these usually call for removal of it, and the fact that I have 8gb of ram should allow it. If I move paging to my 320G SATA drive, it still fails... Thanks -- dma550 |
