Just as the title implies, and im sure most of you already know how
lackluster the vista defrag is. I want to see how much of an improvement
defragging is making, but vista somehow left out this important part.

I've read jfdefrag was good, but this tool is a 1 click auto go kinda
thing, and performs defragging on all hard drives. I know it has some
commandline tricks that will allow it to change some options, but id
prefer to run something with an option menu, and I only want to defrag
my c drive.

I don't know why you are bothering. Vista Defrag is perfectly adequate
and works in the background when your machine is idle...

I am just a regular user. Any MVP will tell you Vista does its defrag in the
" background "automatically, and that there is nothing you should worry
about or waste your time on.
That said, if you insist that you want to see it in action, try Auslogics
Disk Defrag. It's free. [ Caution : don't mistaken with Auslogics Registry
Defrag.] It allows you to choose which disk to be defragged. Once started,
you can see the " play by play ". You can find it in google.

I don't know why you are bothering. Vista Defrag is perfectly adequate

SmartDefrag is freeware copycat of Diskeeper.

Defraggler comes from the folks at CCleaner. It's neat - and free -
too.

1. i don't know why everyone seemed to want to double post
2. telling me the vista defrag tool is adequate is not help at all, it
may be the best for you as a casual user, i have more specific
requirements.

-i only want my c drive defragged, vista tool does all drives
automatically
-vista tool doesnt show what its doing or the progress in real time
-vista doesnt touch fragmented files larger than 64mb
-almost all aftermarket defrag tools use the same defragmentation API
that microsoft uses, making it safe and stable, and they allow you to
see the progress and improvement its making, and give you more options
like sorting files by type, size, use, and leaving hard drive spaces for
temp files such as internet files so crap doesn't get scattered all over
your hard drive.

Are you saying that you got nothing of value from the busybodies and
