Hi
Assuming that both the wire and wireless are working well.
You can configure the computer to prefer the wire when it is connected to
one, and revert to Wireless when there is No wired connection.
Here how, http://www.ezlan.net/metrics.html

Hi
Sorry I forgot the mention.
Vista has these settings too, it is just a different steps to get to the
Network Connection's Properties.
Open the Network and Sharing window by right clicking on the Network icon in
the system tray.
At the upper left side click on "Manage network Connection,
http://www.ezlan.net/vista/vs-net-center.jpg
Right click on one connection choose Properties, highlight the TCP/IPv4
properties and follow as per the metrics page instruct.
Do the same with the second Connection.

Default lan connection

Since SP1 I have to regulaly click the refresh button for IE. And I have to
cancel OL send/receive, and click send/receive again.

Very annoying.

The 2 other Vista computers (without SP1) and 3 XP computers still work
fine.
