Default System Restore

I had need to use System Restore and a notice that 'Not all files had
been restored' appeared. I did not use my laptop for some time due to
illness and after some time thought I had better go further back on
System Restore to make sure all files were restored. In my absence
there had been some updates and to my horror all System Restore dates
now show not all files were restored. I don't know what's missing - my
laptop is working o.k.
Should I leave well enough alone?

Default System Restore

This happens when you do a system restore? There is a possibility that the
system restore files became corrupt - this sometimes happens even without
your PC being updated.

Because your PC is working fine the easiest thing to do is to disable system
restore to clear out all of the old restore points and then enable it again
and create a new restore point. By the looks of thing the old restore points
are not much use to you.

To turn off system restore see this link (the link also tells you how to
re-enable system restore)from my website:

To create a system restore point see this link:

While system restore is useful if you need to go back just a few days or so,
it is actually better to invest in imaging software, such as Acronis True
Image 2009, which allows you to image the whole of your hard drive, either
to a set of DVDs or a removable hard drive, if you have one. If you get any
problems you can then simply re-image the drive back and you will be up and
running quickly. Obviously you need to keep the image up to date.
