I want to reset my network location (not sure it was correct to begin with on initial setup) but cannot find how to do this. It is for my home network. Can anyone guide me through this? -- Remozilla Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Right click on the network icon in the system tray, select "Network and
Sharing Center" then click on "Customize" at the right of your network name. ....or... Go to "Start - Control Panel" and click on "View network status and tasks" then click on "Customize"... -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows – Desktop User Experience) This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights... what i want to do is reset the location for it (home, work, public) but cannot find a way to do so. when i do what is suggested, there is no option to select what kind of location this is...follow? here is my problem. my network is secured and private but i'm not able to get one of my notebooks (all running vista) on the same page as the other computers. none of the other computers can access this notebook and when the notebook is highlighted, this is the only one that doesn't show the location for it. but the notebook can access the other computers on the network. any other ideas??? -- Remozilla Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

When you click on Customize you have two options, Private or Public. Select
"Private" for a home or work network and "Public" for all others, ie. like a public wireless hot spot or a friends house, etc. Click on "Help me choose" or see this Cable Guy article for an explanation of Vista Network Location Awareness. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb878110.aspx -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows – Desktop User Experience) This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights...
