"Ken Blake, MVP" I've never found ReadyBoost to slow down the computer, but I also recommend against it. If you have 2GB or more of RAM, the little it might do for you is so slight as to be almost unnoticeable. And if you have less than 2GB of RAM, you would do much better to spend your money on upgrading your RAM to 2GB than on buying a device for ReadyBoost use. So, in general, I also recommend *against* using ReadyBoost. I would agree with what you say, there is no substitute for sufficient amounts of Ram. I found when i was playing Cod4 online it kept stalling and slowing up and when i disabled Readyboost the problem went, the Game now runs smooth at max settings. I have 2Gb of ram which is just about sufficient in Vista but in Xp of course its a lot better. The problem might be to do with the fact that my Modem is using the Usb port as is my Ocz pendrive, but its on a seperate Usb channel rather than being shared. Graham.... |
