BAFFLED!! please help!
I just spent a lot of money on a new custom built machine for work: msi X58 platinum, intel core i7 965, geforce GTX 280, 1TB samsung HDD with 12 gigs of DDR3 RAM. The problem is that though vista recognizes everything, It's UNBELIEVABLY slow. I've taken out 3 of the RAM sticks leaving 6 gigs, and It's quicker!! (though now Vista recognises 3.99 of that remaining 6gig) This machine should blitz through vista! I even tried Putting Linux to test it and lo and behold it was speedy as hell. Anyway I cant use Linux for software reasons (It aint there yet bless em) So back to Vista... If anyone has experienced this or knows what's going on PLEASE HELP!! -- Skeletoon |

Hello Skeletoon, Have you already installed the latest motherboard chipset drivers and BIOS versions? The newer BIOS version indicates that it helps improve performance. 'MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.' (http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...1&prod_no=1696) Hope this helps, Shawn -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*Windows 7 Forums*' (http://www.sevenforums.com/) *and* '*::Vista Forums::*' (http://www.vistax64.com) *Please post feedback to help others.* |

I don't know about your motherboard, but mine has a limitation if I use DDR 3 1600 memory. You might check yours for that if that is the type of DDR 3 you are using. Clark |
