I've got a three-week-old HP system with a quad-core processor, 6GB of RAM, etc. In other words, it's loaded. (OS: Vista x64) A couple days after I got the machine, it suddenly started running slow as molasses. Never did figure out why, but after a couple hours it was back to normal. About a week later, same thing: a few hours of incredibly sluggish performance, then back to normal. It's happened once or twice since then, and as of today, it's now a full-time slowpoke. I really don't suspect (and haven't found) any virus/malware activity, as it wouldn't explain why the system perked up again after a few hours. Anyone have any thoughts? Pretty desperate at this point. TIA! Rick -- justrick |
