I also run Grid and several other race sims. Toca2 Toca3 GTR GTR2 and
Rfactor. all these games run fast and smooth on my system. I do run flight sims such as flight simX and CFS3 and once again they are very smooth. Where exactly are you having the problem? screen tear? stutter? also when running these games what do you have running in the backround? "gravesmeister" wrote: I know there are faster cards out there but it seems to me like an HD3870 would have no problem running a game like Need for Speed Carbon. I just bought the card and PSU today so I am going to try Grid and see what happens. That game is much more power hungry than NFS Carbon. -- gravesmeister |

So I tried Grid out and the first race was a bit skitchy then the second race ran smooth as silk. I figured I would turn the resolution from 1680 X 1050 to 1280 X 960 and the graphics and the pausing in the game became almost unbearable. So I turn the graphics down and the game runs worse?? -- gravesmeister |

That does not make much sense as I run both carbon and grid at 1920X1200 full
antialias and all yet the games run smooth and fast.. I wish I could help more "gravesmeister" wrote: So I tried Grid out and the first race was a bit skitchy then the second race ran smooth as silk. That is some help. I have a Vista based computer and works great but some
games particularly Delta Force Black Hawk Down and Delta Force Extreme all freeze up for a second or two and then works great. I put five video cards in this computer and all the same problem and the final one BFG 9800 GT works great no problems but those games. So might be maybe some games might not be compatible with DirectX10 not sure but my guess as that was what Nova Logic told me about some of their games. It doesn't seem like anyone cares but here is what I did to fix this. I went into CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and turned everything in there down to the performance setting and I ran autotune in CCC. So I guess the people that run this site don't care to help but if any other person running an ATI card has this problem then try what I did. It works! I went from almost unplayable gameplay to high fps at max settings. Thanks for helping me out Vista Forums (actually I guess I should thank myself) ![]() -- gravesmeister |

I am sorry that I was not much help. I also run a ati card but my machine
runs these games on high quality and 1920x1200. Very fast and very smooth therefore doing what you did and seeing your specs did not add up.. I take it you have all the dx9 and dx10 and your video card drivers updated as well. Also I must say if no one cared then no one would have responded. I never get it , when some people think everyone can view the 1000 settings on their computor and hardware combo and not come up with the correct answer. and get ****ed of about it. Ok first off, off is spelled with 2 f's. Secondly this is how you spell "computer." Thirdly I am not ****ed off. Further, I was not commenting about the lack of knowledge it was the lack of anyone even responding. I got a few joke responses but that is it. That is fine. Now I know where not to go for knowledge as there is none here. Conclusion: Grow a brain, learn how to spell, and get a life! -- gravesmeister |
