My Vista Business SP1 laptop wireless networking stopped working on my
Lenovo ThinkPad T400. The problem boils down to an error starting the "Extensible Authentication Protocol" service. When I try to start the service, I get a generic error: Services Windows could not start the Extensible Authentication Protocol service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. I tried the two solutions I found on the net but neither resolved the problem (wireless doesn't work, EAP service won't start). Start Service Wired AutoConfig Properties http://www.inf.aber.ac.uk/advisory/faq/965/#vista Start hidden service ndisuio http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...-f7668cd67158/ According to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\EapHost the dll for this service is "C:\Windows\System32\eapsvc.dll". The file exists. When I open it in Dependency Walker it shows a warning for two files: Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module. Specifically: c:\windows\system32\IEFRAME.DLL (7.00.6000.16386) Has errors--functions labeled #160, #159, and #141, #165, #167, and #142 show up as "Not Bound". Additionally: c:\windows\system32\SHLWAPI.DLL (6.0.6001.1800) Has one error, function #467 shows up as "Not Bound". Are there newer versions of these files? What updates do I need to install to get them? I have no idea why this service suddently stopped working--no updates that I recall and no software installations. Any other suggestions as to what is wrong or what I should look into? Thanks, Sam |
