code 80070002 Windows Update encountered an unknown error
Over the past week or so Windows Update will not load the downloaded updates.
I run Bitdefender antivirus and this program recognises the need for critical updates and also downloaded them to have them fail. I have run the latest Malware, Adware and Registery Mechanic. The Windows help and support solution does not fix. Please help? -- PSharpe

Thanks Mike.
Followed MS instructions to the letter. Download file changed to .old Ran update again, same result. Seems file 38,805,504 bytes (DataStore.edb) is downloading OK but will not install. Any hints would be welcome. Have Vista Home Premium OEM load from Dubai.
