I got a new 64 bit HP laptop about a month ago and have recently completed
the second complete rebuild. System restore did not work last time. My control panel launches and is blank; then the window closes. From my start menu, I cannot access any default program settings. My printer would not install initially, but I got that online and added last week. I went to print this morning and it's gone again; says printer cannot spool. I also have no games (Windows, HP) that can be accessed. These are all the same issues that I had initially that resulted in the rebuild. I have done registry repair; spyware scans; adware scans, etc etc. I have Norton antivirus that came with the machine. I am frustrated and don't have time to continue to rebuild my computer every two weeks. How can I fix this and prevent it from happening again? Thanks, Minnie |

So in between restoring your PC to Factory specs and it all going wrong what
exactly did you do/install on your PC? "minnieme" wrote in message ... I got a new 64 bit HP laptop about a month ago and have recently completed the second complete rebuild. If you have taken it back to HP factory standards, to no avail, contact HP,
and tell them to fix it, or you want a replacement computer, or your money back. HP have a seller's/manufacturer's responsibility to fix ALL your Software and Hardware problems as the OEM manufacturer. It is part of the deal they get from microsoft, in return they buy cheap Vista Licences. -- Mad Mike "minnieme" wrote: I got a new 64 bit HP laptop about a month ago and have recently completed the second complete rebuild. Everything installed just fine- totally loaded with software; checked each
time in-between installs to make sure nothing had gone awry. The two items that got loaded two days ago were a registry cleaner and adware program. Initially, the cleaner gave me 1,300 registry issues, and then a consistent 100, give or take a few. Most of the issues were the speech recognition, and many others were dlls in system 32. Both programs were restored with no change, and then uninstalled. Went back and loaded just the essential drivers with no result; one was completely incapable of being restored (I think it was a Windows) We have two machines running Vista; one is 32 bit; mine is the new 64 bit HP machine; the other is not HP and has no issues at all. At this point, I will be doing a complete rebuild, leaving out all the HP "stuff" that is eating up so much space, and will see what happens there. I really wish, though, that we could have had a clear idea of what had happened (again) and how to avoid it, although I am hopeful that rebuilding this way will solve the issue once and for all. I think the issue is software and not hardware, so I'm wary that even if they
gave me a whole new machine, we would have the same issues. It seems to me to be a compatibility issue of some kind between Vista and the HP drivers.... Will definitely keep your suggestion in mind, as it would be a good option if this rebuild doesn't stick.
