My Os is taking like 35 GB:S mostly winsxs folder(18 gb) I removed the restore points a while ago. I removed the temp sp1 files. Now i hav a full hard disk can't update my os can't do nothing except browsing the internet lol I feel like I'm using knoppix. What can I do in order to get back a normal pc :S All my pc specifications are well tuned for nothin. I am having the same problem. I heard somewhere that Winsxs which means Windows Side by Side stores a copy of all the drivers, the problem is that it keeps a copy of all the available versions of the same driver for use by different software, which is why it occupies a lot of space. It happens mainly when you have installed and uninstalled lot of softwares. This is a new feature in Windows Vista, in XP it was there, but didn't occupied this much space. If you try to delete it or portion of it than your software or OS may stop working as it should. I have tried to find out a solution to this but there is no feasible solution to this right now, the last way is to format your hard drive! ![]() -- happyhardik 'Professional Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget Development' (http://www.device-developer.com/Gadg...developer.aspx) | 'Professional asp.net development' (http://www.device-developer.com/Gadg...developer.aspx) (\"http://www.device-developer.com/hire-developers.aspx\") |

A 40gb partition for Vista is clearly not enough. The OS requires a partition size of at least 60gb, and 80gb if one installs a few programs and still wants Vista to have space for general breathing and expansion.. -- Mike Hall - MVP Windows Experience http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/ |

Hello, my name is HASAN:
You can do like this; buy a hard disk and install it, then go to the Convtrol Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Managment - Disk Management, and convert both disks to dynamic disks, so you can extend the partition over the two disks, all that by right-click the first disk and choose Convert to Dynamic Disk and then the second one ... the wizards windows should tell you how, since I can't sort the details here. And you can search for these things in the help center of Windows XP (that center is my friend, say hi to him please, it helped me a lot) and in the MSDN: msdn.microsoft.com Good luck "happyhardik" wrote in message ... elserge82;986034 Wrote: Guys I Hav a 40 gb hard disk full of nothin:S lol No software installed except microsoft office and adobe photoshop.
