Try doing Disk clean?
Then go buy an external hard drive of 150 GB for about 40 bucks.

Vista requires a partition double the size of your drive. The problem is not
with Vista. The problem is with your outdated hardware. Get a larger drive..

Good for you, Gordon..

An 80gb partition gives space enough for Vista to breathe in and out, enough
space to install plenty of stuff, and enough free space to maintain drive
performance. Saves having to get paranoid about moving stuff elsewhere all
of the time..

When you run Disk Cleanup on C: are you choosing "files from all users on
this computer", do you have a hibernation file, are you deleting "all but
the most recent" restore points and shadow copies? You could also try
downloading Ccleaner and make sure the Hot Fixes option is checked (to get
rid of all the backups of security patches).

I have 64 bit Vista Ultimate and my winsxs folder is 14GB
in size with 58,000 files in 48,000 folders. It has both the
32 and 64 bit sets of everything. Among other things,
every version of every .dll for every installed application
is held in the winsxs folder. MS Office and Photoshop
have thousands of dlls. Winsxs keeps all this code for
application compatibilty.

How large is your \Users folder? It holds a lot of your data & settings,
like Pictures, Documents, email messages, newsgroup messages, etc.

My Vista takes up the following:
\Windows 17 GB
\Users 23 GB
\Program Files 8 GB
