Very new to Vista Home Basic - old XP Home user.
This is a new Acer Aspire notebook and out of the box it found my home wireless network and I entered the security key and all was good---to a point. It would drop the connection to the internet but keep connected to the LAN. I red here that antivirus program's firewall must be set to the right setting --- I did that. My question is what do I need to do to keep this system from dropping its internet connection? -- Make a Great Day Frank Parmelee USA |

Hi
From the Wireless Perspective there is No difference between Internet traffic or LAN. When you say that it is Dropping the Internet, is that means that the Internet browsing is Not working correctly, or you actually lose the Wireless or Internet connection? The LAN and wireless connection remains intact, but the connection to the
internet is gone. Can't browse or get e-mail but can do anything else on the LAN. -- Make a Great Day Frank Parmelee USA "Jack-MVP" wrote in message ... Hi
First log to the Router and take a look at the WAN menu to make sure that indeed you have a solid connection to the Internet. The typical issue when there is a solid connection to the Internet and No Browsing would be some "trashing" of the WinSock. Try this process, http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/0...og-corruption/ Jack (MS, MVP-Networking) "Frank Parmelee" wrote in message ...
